Cash on Delivery (COD) Policy

By choosing Cash on Delivery (COD) as a payment method during checkout on BISWAS RETAIL CO. and the brand VastrMitr (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms govern all orders placed under the COD payment method and are binding upon the buyer and the Company.

Last updated on October 6, 2025

1. Cash on Delivery Fee

Once the Cash on Delivery payment option is selected during checkout, the buyer will be charged an additional 5% of the total cart value as a COD service fee. This fee is non-refundable under all circumstances and is applied to cover handling, processing, and collection costs associated with COD orders.

2. Advance Payment Requirement

An advance payment is required to confirm your COD order, initiate the shipping process, and prevent fraudulent or fake orders. The advance payment amount is determined by the total value of your order as follows:

  • Orders between ₹1,000 – ₹9,999: ₹1,000 advance payment is required.
  • Orders between ₹10,000 – ₹19,999: 30% of the total order value is required in advance.

The advance amount must be successfully paid before the order is processed and dispatched. Failure to pay the advance may result in order cancellation without further notice.

3. Payment of Remaining Balance

The remaining balance (total order value minus the advance amount) must be paid in full to the delivery partner at the time of delivery. Payment must be made in Indian Rupees (INR) via cash or other accepted payment methods as specified by the courier partner.

4. Non-Acceptance of Delivery

In the event that the buyer refuses to accept the delivery of the ordered products for any reason, the advance amount paid will not be refunded. This advance is retained by the Company to cover all associated expenses, including but not limited to:

  • Courier services and shipping charges
  • Packaging and handling costs
  • Manpower and logistics expenses
  • Penalty charges and administrative overheads

Repeated refusal of COD orders may result in the buyer being blacklisted from future COD purchases and/or restriction of account access.

5. Return to Origin (RTO) & Failed Delivery

If the shipment cannot be delivered due to reasons such as an incorrect address, customer unavailability, refusal to accept, or failure to pay the remaining COD amount, it will be treated as a Return to Origin (RTO). In such cases:

  • The advance amount paid will be forfeited to cover round-trip courier costs (forward and return shipping), handling, and administrative fees.
  • The buyer will be liable for any additional charges incurred due to RTO, and repeated occurrences may lead to account suspension.

6. Order Cancellation

Buyers who wish to cancel a COD order must do so before the order is dispatched. Once the order is shipped, cancellation is not possible. If the buyer refuses the shipment upon delivery, it will be handled under the “Non-Acceptance of Delivery” and “RTO” clauses above, and the advance payment will be forfeited.

7. Address Accuracy

The buyer is solely responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address during checkout. We will not be liable for delays, non-deliveries, or additional costs arising from incorrect, incomplete, or outdated delivery details provided by the buyer.

8. Delivery Delays & Courier Issues

While we make every effort to ensure timely delivery, once the order is handed over to the courier partner, delivery timelines are beyond our direct control. Delays caused by courier network issues, remote locations, weather, strikes, or unforeseen events do not qualify for refunds, cancellations, or compensation.

9. To-Pay (ODA) Charges

For shipments to Out-of-Delivery-Area (ODA) locations — often remote or tier-3 regions — courier companies may charge additional doorstep delivery fees (e.g., ₹600 for special vehicle delivery). Since these charges cannot be calculated in advance, they will be collected directly by the courier at the time of delivery. Refusal to pay such charges may result in shipment return and forfeiture of the advance payment.

10. Fraud Prevention & Misuse

We reserve the right to reject, cancel, or block COD orders suspected of fraud, misuse, or non-genuine activity. Any legal action arising from COD misuse or fraud attempts will be pursued under applicable Indian laws.

11. Dispute Resolution & Jurisdiction

All disputes, claims, or legal matters related to Cash on Delivery orders shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Delhi, India. No other jurisdiction shall apply, irrespective of the buyer’s location.

By choosing COD at checkout, you:

  • Confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this COD Policy.
  • Acknowledge that the advance payment is non-refundable under the conditions stated.
  • Accept full responsibility for timely payment of the remaining balance upon delivery.
